A Groovy Kind of Photoshoot

A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to participate in a styled shoot (thanks, Megan!!). When I heard styled shoot I thought, “cool, everything will be really pretty.” When I heard it was a 1960s theme my eyeballs did that old-school Looney Toons thing where they pop out of my head and turn into hearts!!

Celina Nunez worked with our three models to take them back in time. Cat eyes and beehive hairstyles transported us all back in time, and made me wish I was modeling just so I could have my makeup done like that! When we were all done with hair and makeup, we headed to downtown Canton.

Colette’s Vintage set us up with three sets of outfits for each of our three models. I’ve never been in Colette’s before so that alone was such a treat! I wandered the store in excitement and made plans to come back and buy—well, everything!

Beloved Floral Designs, LLC provided four flower crowns for the day and each were absolutely SWOON-WORTHY. So lovely that Megan and I had to steal them for a quick photo! (: Side note: be on the lookout for a vendor spotlight and behind-the-scenes blog in the coming weeks!

The models—Emily Wright, Alexa Roldan and Kaiah Roldan—were absolute naturals! We had so much fun and they were able to take suggestions on direction and turn it into pure gold. Kaiah had that dress twirl DOWN!

We spent a good number of hours exploring the Canton Arts District and the rest of Downtown Canton, finding cool walls, scenic overlooks and textured backgrounds. The photoshoot could not have gone better. It was a chance to flex my creativity, work with great vendors and artists, shoot and edit in different styles and even try some poses. Styled shoots are different than weddings and family sessions because you have more of an opportunity to experiment with different styles and angles. Thanks to everyone who helped make this a success, and special thanks to Megan at Easterday Creative for being the lady with the vision!
