Boudie Call: Rockin' with Sarah

I don’t want to overstate this, but… I love boudoir! There are so many reasons to get a session, and I have plans to tell you exactly why you should have one. Here’s a walk through of what a session really looks like!

Sarah was one of my wedding clients a few years ago! She and her husband, Michael, were so much fun to work with. I always hope to get to see my wedding couples again but when I tell you that I SCREAMED when I saw Sarah applied for this Boudie Call, I’m not joking! Not only is she amazing and beautiful, but I knew I would absolutely love spending the day with her in the studio.

Styling by Rachel Gabrielle & Co.

First things, first. Styling! I have a few hair and makeup artists that come to the studio who I absolutely adore. These women bring great energy, and they love to help hype up our client. Rachel and I have a great time working together. (Bonus if you also like books… because we’re both obsessed and that’s usually our first conversation of the day!) We choose outfits before hair and makeup is underway, to ensure the outfits and makeup are cohesive!

I like to start every session the same way. It offers some consistency to my work, and it gives clients that initial injection of confidence when they’ve seen others in the same pose. Showing the back of the camera is a way to help with any nerves the client might be feeling when they get started. One of my favorite pieces of boudoir is helping someone see themselves with kinder eyes. (Trust me, you look HAWT! 🔥 And here’s the photo evidence!)

For every Boudie Call, I generally have a theme or technique that I’m working on. Most of the themes go on to be specialty sets that are available as a pre-payment bonus! For this, I wanted to try a fun technique with specialty filters and new lights. I love how they worked, especially to highlight Sarah’s face in that center image!

The Record Room has been one of my favorites since I created it. I felt like I hadn’t come up with enough diverse poses in it so I decided to take a more creative approach to this session. I focused on movement and finding new perspectives. I love the overhead view, which gives a slightly voyeuristic moment with the leaves in the foreground. I used a few lighting options to get varied looks within the same set!

After we finished Sarah’s photo shoot, I sent her out to lunch so I could do quick edits on her photos. When she came back, we selected which photos she wanted in her final album and gallery. It’s such an honor getting to OOH and AAH along with a client as they see themselves in this way. So many tell me that this is the first thing they’ve done for themselves in a while, and it was sorely needed. Others cry tears of joy at how confident they both look and feel. Some just stare with a slight smile while muttering, “woah, I can’t believe that’s me.”

Sarah is an absolute bombshell, and you can be, too! If you’ve been considering a Boudoir Experience but you’re nervous that you won’t know what to do, I promise you’re in great hands. I guide you from head to toe during your session. I suggest facial expressions and movement to bring life to your photos. Your job is to trust yourself and the process, my job is to show you just how incredible you are!!

Ready to feel like a million bucks?!
